The N-12® WT IB pipe (per CSA B182.8) sell sheet explains the applications, features and benefits, and gives the specifications for the pipe. N-12 WT IB pipe incorporates patented technology to provide a watertight joint and increases its sealing forces as intermittent internal or external hydrostatic pressure occurs. Advanced joint design features reduce infiltration and exfiltration, resulting in outstanding long term performance.
N-12 WT IB pipe (per CSA B182.8) is used for storm sewers, culverts & cross drains, ditch enclosures, slope & edge drains, retention & detention, and mining, forestry, & industrial uses.
Features of the N-12 WT IB pipe are that it is available in 6 m (20’) lengths which result in fewer joints, 100-1500mm (4”-6”) diameters are available, structurally designed to withstand HS-25, HL-93 and CL-625 highway traffic loads with minimum cover of 100-1200 mm (4”-48”) minimum cover 0.3 m (1”) and minimum cover of 1500 mm (60”) minimum cover 0.6 m (2’).
The benefits are that the fast bell-spigot join assembly with unsurpassed structural integrity, superior hydraulics with a smooth interior to ensure no debris or sediment build-up, it prevents contamination of soil and local waters from construction runoff sediment, lawn care products or automobile emissions. This pipe avoids possible infiltration of sands and fines that result in sinkholes and differential settlement to adjacent structures.
This document includes specifications for the Canada N-12 WT IB pipe (per CSA B182.8), including the scope. The specification describes 100 to 1500 mm (4”-60”) ADS Canada N-12 WT IB (per CSA B182.8) pipe for use in gravity-flow drainage applications. The specification includes information about the pipe requirements, joint performance, material properties, and installation.
For complete installation guidelines for Canada N-12 WT IB pipe (per CSA B182.8), follow CSA B182.11 published installation guidelines. Backfill for minimum cover situations shall consist of Class 1, Class 2 (minimum 90% SPD) or Class 3 (minimum 95% SPD) material. Maximum fill heights depend on embedment material and compaction level; please refer to Technical Note 2.01C for more information.
