SOLUTION
In order to meet Quebec’s stormwater and environmental standards, stormwater needed to be collected onsite. Other products were considered for the underground chamber system, but better options allowed ADS to flip the project to StormTech SC-310 and MC-3500 chambers, along with N-12 catch basins, N-12 high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe and Duraslot XL Trench Drain pipe combined with Nyloplast catch basins.
EMS Engineering used the StormTech Design Tool to create the design concept. ADS also provided unparalleled service on the project as representatives were on site multiple days to help avoid challenges and delays.
The StormTech chambers were utilized for multiple types of beds based on the site conditions. One bed was installed near the building, while others were in green areas and under the tennis courts. The StormTech system will detain stormwater and then release into the city’s stormwater system to meet flow requirements.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS
StormTech Chambers are designed to save valuable land, reduce flooding risks and protect water resources. The chambers provide a durable structural system and are designed in accordance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design specification for the HS-20 live loads. StormTech chambers are available in a variety of sizes to meet any project need and are injection molded for uniform wall thickness.
Duraslot XL Trench Drains provide superior hydraulic efficiency and flow capacity, while being engineered to handle heavy structural loads. The pipe is available in 150-900 mm (6”-36”) with 125 mm (5”) wide grates in either standard or pedestrian styles. Standard and variable slot height can be manufactured specifically for your project’s needs. Duraslot is a cost-effective substitute for precast trench drains or cast-in-place trench drains with steel or cast iron grates.
N-12 HDPE Dual Wall Pipe, made using high-density polyethylene (HDPE), has a corrugated exterior and smooth interior wall that provide exceptional strength and hydraulics. The inert HDPE material is resistant to the effects of chemicals, abrasions and hot soils. N-12 is available in 100-1500 mm (4”-60”) diameters and in 6 m (20’) lengths. The inline bell design allows for pipe ends to be pushed together for easy installation.
